Your Shopify app subscriptions are a real cost of running the store, but Shopify bills them separately and Shopshot does not pull them in automatically. Add them as Operating Expenses so they flow into your net profit. See the Operating Expenses article for the full page.
Why add them
Apps for reviews, email, subscriptions, and Shopshot itself bill monthly on your Shopify invoice. If you do not record them, your Profit & Loss overstates net profit by the amount you actually pay for software. Adding them once keeps the picture honest.
How to add an app cost
On the Operating Expenses page, use + Add Operating Expense and set:
Cost name, for example "Shopify apps" or the specific app name.
Type: Fixed Amount.
Frequency: Monthly (or the billing cadence).
Category: Software (or a category you use for tooling).
Amount: the monthly charge.
Start date and End date covering the period it applies to.
Shopshot converts the monthly amount to a daily rate and allocates it across that period's orders, so the cost lands on the days it actually supports rather than all at once. You can bulk Import a list of app costs or Export CSV.
2. By simply importing your exported Shopify bill. Here are the steps
From your Shopify admin, head to Settings -> Billing
In the Past bills section, click "View in charge table"
Under Charge Type, select "Subscription Charges"
Then, export the report as CSV
You will get an email with the link to export
Then, in Shopshot, head to Costs Setup -> Operating Expenses -> Import
Select Import Shopify App Costs
Upload the exported CSV file from Shopify and hit Import
That's it. Shopshot will add the recurring app fees based on the exported data from Shopify.
Ongoing data cleanup
It is important that you review your Shopify app recurring costs on a monthly basis in Shopshot. If you uninstall any app in Shopify, you will have to select the end date accordingly in the Shopshot operating expense line item so that the cost doesn't keep getting counted towards your profit calculation.
Common questions
Does Shopshot pull app charges from my Shopify bill automatically? No. App and subscription charges are entered as operating expenses so you stay in control of what counts.
Where does this show up? Under Operating Expenses in the Profit & Loss statement, reducing net profit for the days it covers.
Should I include Shopshot's own subscription? Yes, if you want net profit to reflect every tool you pay for. Add it like any other app cost.
