If an order's costs or profit do not look right, the cause is almost always one of a few things. Work through these in order.
1. Costs are snapshotted at order time
This is the most common surprise. When you edit a cost, past orders keep the cost that was true when they were placed. Editing COGS today does not restate yesterday's orders. This is intentional, so closed periods stay stable. See How Shopshot calculates profit.
2. A cost input is missing
If an order's profit looks too high, a cost is probably not set. Check that the order's SKUs have COGS, that a shipping source resolved (see the Shipping Cost Source field), that the payment gateway is configured, and that fulfillment rules are active.
3. The data is still syncing
New orders and cost changes take a short time to reconcile. If you just made a change, give the sync a moment and refresh the date range.
4. The order is excluded by a Global Filter
If an order is missing from a report entirely, a Global Filter may be excluding it (for example a cancelled, test, or wholesale order). Check Global Filters.
Still not right?
Open the order in Orders and read its Financial Breakdown. Because every line traces to a real input, the line that looks wrong points straight to the setting to fix. If it still does not add up, contact support with the order number.
