Reading your first Profit Leak report

A guided first read of the Profit Leak Agent: the two headline numbers, how to read a leak card, and how to act on your first recoverable dollars.

The Profit Leak Agent is where most stores first see Shopshot pay for itself. For your first read, you do not need to understand every detector. You need to understand the two headline numbers and how to act on the top card.

The two numbers at the top

  • Recoverable amount identified is money you can realistically get back by acting on the leaks below. This is the conservative number.

  • Directional exposure is a larger, at-risk figure for issues that are harder to pin to an exact recovery, like cash sitting in slow inventory.

They are kept separate so the recoverable number never overstates what you can actually get back.

Read the top card

Start with the highest-ranked card. Each card tells you its category, a confidence level (HIGH or MEDIUM), the estimated recovery, and a one-line proof such as "6 orders · $93 avg gap · $558 total leak." Click Take Action to open the evidence: the exact orders, SKUs, or costs behind the number.

Act on it

Pick one card and fix the underlying issue. For example, if shipping is underpriced on some orders, adjust your rates or your Shipping Costs setup. Fixing two or three cards in your first session is normal, and usually worth more than the app costs.

If cards say MEDIUM confidence

That is a signal your cost data is incomplete for some affected orders, usually COGS. Finish your costs and the same cards sharpen to HIGH confidence with exact numbers. See Set up costs for a new store.

Send it to your team

Turn on the Weekly Email or Export a PDF so the report reaches whoever acts on it, without them logging in. See Exporting and sharing reports.

Common questions

Why is directional exposure so much bigger? It includes issues where the exact recovery is not yet certain. Act on the recoverable number first.

A card disappeared after I fixed it. Is that normal? Yes. Fixed or lower-impact leaks rotate out of the top cards. Others sit under Other leaks.

Sharpen every number by completing your costs. → Set up costs for a new store
